BURN Task Force



The Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics Task Force (BURN) is a multi-agency cooperative task force whose mission is to investigate, identify, disrupt and dismantle street level and mid-level drug traffickers and drug trafficking organizations in and around Butler County Ohio. The BURN Task Force also targets DTO’s with a propensity for violence and conspiratorial relations as a means of furthering their illegal endeavors. The BURN Task Force is led by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office and located in the City of Hamilton, Ohio.

The BURN Task Force is comprised of agents from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office, Oxford Police Department, Hamilton Police Department, Middletown Police Department, Fairfield Police Department, Butler County Adult Probation, Ohio Parole Authority, and the Drug Enforcement Agency.

Wide varieties of techniques are used by BURN to attempt to combat the drug epidemic. Techniques employed by the BURN Task Force to fight drug trafficking activities include citizen complaints, a drug “tip” line, intelligence gathering and audio/video surveillance, the use of confidential informants, trash pulls, search warrants and controlled buys. The task force also has two (2) K-9s and handlers assigned for traffic stops, hotel interdiction and highway interdiction.

BURN Task Force Agents also assist the public in educational talks about drug trends and the dangers of drug usage.

The BURN Task Force was recently designated as a HIDTA initiative, share information with the Ohio HIDTA ISC, and participates in the HIDTA deconfliction system.
